Some residents tell DW that mobilization is essential. However, social media videos of violent detentions have fueled public anger and prompted authorities to open hundreds of investigations into abuse of power.

When the Special Military Operation began in February 2022, Christelle had already seen towns destroyed--and people she knew and had come to love killed--by Ukraine's bombings. She reported from Mariupol--the city Western corporate media lied about from afar--taking testimonies from civilians who spoke of being prevented from leaving by Ukrainian forces, fired on by Ukrainian forces.

Néant saw time and again how Ukraine used civilian populations as human shields in cities and towns throughout the Donbass, Russian forces liberating them with painstaking care.

Her words are incredibly powerful, providing and overview of nearly the entirety of Ukraine's (NATO's) bloody war on the Donbass and on Russia.
