Moments before the announcement, their home was bombed by the Israeli army, killing 21 members of the family, including women and children. Survivors, now receiving treatment at al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, described how they had gathered to await the ceasefire. Some were making dinner and tea, children were playing, and others were in their rooms with their families. Then their house was targeted by an Israeli strike. Fourteen children were inside, the youngest just five months old. Several bodies could only be recovered over the course of days, and some relatives remain unaccounted for. The family had been waiting for what they believed would be the start of calm. Instead, they became the last family in Gaza City to be struck before the ceasefire was declared.
