Sanour, in the northern occupied West Bank, is no longer accessible to its people. Residents have been forced out as new settlement expansion plans move forward—reshaping the geography and further restricting P*lestinian life. For those who lived here, this is not just land taken. It is a livelihood lost, and a future cut off. While global attention remains elsewhere, a rapid transformation is occurring in the occupied West Bank. The Israeli Security Cabinet secretly approved 34 new settlement sites, the largest expansion on record, raising the total to 103. Key to this is the re-establishment of Sanour (Sa-Nur), one of four settlements evacuated in Israel’s 2005 disengagement. On April 22, 2026, Israeli authorities reopened Sa-Nur, with 16 families moving in. On April 29, the Occupation approved plans for 126 new housing units. At the reopening, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated that Israel was "burying the idea of a Palestinian state". Six of the newly approved settlements are located in Jenin governorate, effectively encircling the city. Analysts warn that these enclaves will cut Jenin off from other Plestinian population centres, fragmenting the northern West Bank. The UN Special Rapporteur has called the plan "the largest ethnic cleansing and land grab in Plestine since the Nakba". This expansion has been accompanied by a surge in organised settler violence. Since the beginning of 2026, 16 Plestinians have been killed in settler attacks. In March alone, the Colonisation and Wall Resistance Commission recorded 1,819 attacks across the West Bank—including 1,322 by Isreli forces and 497 by settlers. For Plestinians, this is not just about land—it is about life shrinking. As Abbas Ghanam of Jaba Municipality explains, "Our economic life has been terminated. All of our agricultural projects have been stopped. Plestinians are unable to reach their lands due to settler attacks". Each new outpost means less access, more restrictions, and more fear. Entire communities are being pushed out—slowly, but steadily. Piece by piece, the ethnic cleansing of Plestinians is being achieved by Isrel.
