I was attacked by a soldier, who then accused me of assaulting him, and asked the police to arrest me. My friends told me that they heard cops and soldiers saying that they recognised me, so this arrest is very clearly targeted political persecution. I was released several hours later, but the only reason that I'm free is that I am not Palestinian, and I hold an Israeli passport. Palestinian journalists in Gaza are routinely assassinated by the Israeli army. Palestinian journalists in the West Bank, like Ayman Ghraieb, are kidnapped, tortured and held in concentration camps. Even Palestinians with Israeli IDs are routinely targeted and suppressed for their work. The only thing this demonstrates is the value of information work. Israel is waging a propaganda war, and it is losing.
