US Senator Chris Van Hollen is demanding a Senate hearing into the US Embassy in Israel’s handling of investigations into nine US citizens killed in the occupied West Bank by Israeli settlers or security forces over the past four years. The Maryland Democrat accused Ambassador Mike Huckabee and his staff of concealing information to shield the Israeli government, after he and more than 30 colleagues wrote to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Huckabee in March over the killing of Nasrallah Abu Siyam, a 19-year-old US-Palestinian from Philadelphia. 'The American embassy in Israel is hiding information about the killing of American citizens,' Van Hollen said in a video posted on X, calling on Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman Jim Risch to investigate what he described as a cover-up. He also accused the Biden and Trump administrations of failing to secure justice and accountability for US citizens killed in the occupied West Bank. The demand follows a New York Times report, citing US officials and documents, that David Milstein, a senior adviser to Huckabee, suppressed an embassy report on the status of investigations into the nine killings.
