The activist was announced dead after being shot in the head with a live bullet during a protest against the confiscation of land by Israel. Aysenur Ezgi was volunteering with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), an organization providing a protective presence and solidarity with Palestinians in the West Bank. Ezgi is not the first person to by killed by Israelis in Beita. Since protests started in 2020, 17 Palestinians were killed in Beita. In recent years, Beita has seen ongoing demonstrations, particularly against the construction of new illegal Israeli outposts on the land of the village.
