MSF charity head says Israel’s termination of its Gaza operation “is going to be catastrophic” https://tankie.tube/videos/watch/d708d10d-9ba5-4f0c-b0fb-04b2cc215e6a Doctors Without Borders (MSF) secretary general Christopher Lockyear speaks on Israel’s banning of the charity’s operation in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. The decision came after the organisation refused to hand over a list of its Palestinian and international staff.⁠ Lockyear explained that they were “forced to choose between the safety and security of our staff and being able to reach patients.” He added that the strategic halting of the operation "is about control of humanitarian organisations, to either work according to the bigger plan that the Israeli government has in terms of Gaza”, or to stop aid “at the most critical need". As the Rafah crossing is being reopened, according to the Gaza Government Media Office, an estimated 22,000 wounded people and patients remain on waiting lists for urgent evacuation. To explain the MSF’s indispensable role, Lockyear stated that “one in five hospital beds are supported by MSF. One in three women during their deliveries are assisted by MSF”.
