He wrote: "Iran is looking at FREEDOM, perhaps like never before. The USA stands ready to help!!!" Son of Iran's late shah, Reza Pahlavi, also posted a video on social media, telling protestors not to "abandon the streets" and that he will "soon be by their side". This comes just two days after US President Donald Trump refused to meet with Reza Pahlavi, sparking speculation that the US leader is signalling he could cut a deal with the Islamic Republic's elite, as he did in Venezuela. Protests spread across Iran two weeks ago. It began in response to rising inflation, but soon turned political, with some demonstrators calling for the end of the Islamic Republic.
