Co-organiser of the protest, Maryam Palizban, said things were worse than ever before and that the internet blackout was making communication almost impossible. "Everyone who contacts us asks us to pass on their voices here, to pass on that blood is flowing everywhere and it is worse than ever before," she said. The protests began two weeks ago as demonstrations against dire economic conditions and rapidly escalated. A senior Iranian official said Tehran had warned neighbours it would hit American bases if Washington strikes. US President Donald Trump previously repeated threats to intervene on behalf of anti-government protesters. An Iranian official has said more than 2,000 people have died.
