Kamran is among six prisoners refusing food to protest their treatment and the government’s proscription of direct action group, Palestine Action. The prisoners, all accused of involvement with Palestine Action before it was proscribed in July, will have been in jail for over a year by the time they stand trial. Kamran has been held at HMP Pentonville since November 2024. He is due to stand trial in June 2026, facing charges of criminal damage, aggravated burglary and violent disorder. Kamran denies the charges. He is losing 0.5kg daily and has just been hospitalised for a third time. Justice Secretary David Lammy and the Ministry of Justice have either not responded to or refused to meet with MPs and representatives of the hunger strikers. His mother and father await news of him daily, fearing the worst. They cannot understand why the UK government has taken their son, nor can they fathom why he is not eating.
