The administration’s demands included the shutdown of all diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programmes, forcing the university to report foreign students if they commit conduct violations and being subject to an audit looking into if the student body and staff is “viewpoint diverse”. Harvard is one of various institutions targeted by the Trump administration. Many of the targeted universities were at the centre of pro-Palestine student demonstrations and encampments in US campuses last year.
