Brazen crimes against humanity, he argues, have become the norm. World powers remain silent or issue weak statements, while the United States has fully aligned itself with Israel’s campaign of starvation and forced displacement against two million Palestinians. Gill contends that Israel and the US are actively pursuing the violent ethnic cleansing of Gaza, with no meaningful pushback from international institutions. He points to the inaction of the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court despite previous findings on the risk of genocide and war crimes. He highlights the targeted killings of humanitarian workers, including aid staff, civil defence teams and UN employees. A civil defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal described the recent attack as “one of the most brutal massacres Gaza has witnessed in modern history”. Yet even after the deaths of foreign nationals and UN personnel, Western governments refuse to hold Israel accountable, and official statements often fail to name the perpetrator.
