Silva said people mobilised across more than 70 cities within hours of the US bombing of Caracas, rejecting claims that the attack was about democracy or drug trafficking and identifying it instead as a colonial war to dominate Venezuela and seize its oil and other resources. Silva said the Trump administration committed war crimes by bombing a sovereign capital, kidnapping a sitting head of state, and openly declaring plans to control Venezuela’s future and its resources. “We see this for what it is: a war for oil and resources.” She said the escalation follows the same pattern of US wars, occupations, and domination across Latin America and the Middle East, while people in the US face cuts to Medicaid and food assistance, rising rents, and stagnant wages. Silva said the protests show growing resistance inside the US to endless wars and a growing movement standing in active solidarity with Venezuela, Palestine, and all people resisting US aggression.
