Large crowds marched through the city, joined by armed pro government groups known as colectivos on motorbikes, as demonstrators carried images of Maduro and chanted against US intervention. Speakers and protesters condemned the United States for violating Venezuela’s sovereignty over it's ambitions for oil, and attempting to impose control over the country’s leadership. Rally organisers invoked the legacy of Simón Bolívar and Hugo Chávez, while chants of "No war, yes peace" and "Venezuela is not anyone’s backyard" echoed through the streets, framing the US operation as imperial aggression aimed at Venezuela’s rich resources and political independence.
