Gaza’s underground landscape has a long history, from wells and agricultural infrastructure to the tunnels used for shelter, movement and resistance – what architect Eyal Weizman calls the “shadow of the political history on the surface.” We are joined by Weizman, founder of Forensic Architecture and author of the new book Ungrounding: The Architecture of Genocide, to discuss the intimate relationship between Palestinians in Gaza and the landscape, the history of its tunnels and how Israel is using architecture and environmental destruction as weapons of genocide.
