Masses of workers are coming together to make these demands of Governor Pedro Pierluisi, and they’ve made some incredible progress. The truckers at the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports are petitioning to unionize with the Teamsters union and be treated and paid fairly. Drivers for XPO Logistics Inc. are categorized as “contractors” rather than employees, and don’t have health insurance through their job nor are they paid as employees would be.
