The cases date back nearly a decade including allegations against Feeding Our Future, a nonprofit that federal prosecutors say falsely claimed to provide meals to low-income children during the Covid-19 pandemic. Beginning in 2022, federal authorities brought charges against dozens of individuals, most of them Somali. The Trump administration has cited these fraud allegations to justify heightened federal law enforcement activity in Minnesota, home to the largest Somali population in the United States.
