Yet these killings “have barely registered a complaint” from most mainstream journalists, who instead demanded access to Gaza rather than condemning the murders. Essa says this indifference reflects decades of dehumanisation of Palestinians in the media, rooted in racism, parochialism, and the view that Palestinian reporters are not “real journalists”.
