Walking through the ruins of his kitchen and bedrooms, he shares a deeply personal account of loss, not just of bricks and mortar, but of his history, his childhood, and the memories of his mother. Fakhri’s home was destroyed by the Israeli authorities based on the claim that the land was "King David’s Garden" over 3,000 years ago. He explains that this claim is being used to justify a political plan: to build a belt of settlements around the Old City and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, effectively replacing Palestinian residents with settlers. He asserts that the main goal is the displacement and erasure of the Palestinian presence in the city. Since the 7th of October, Israeli authorities have demolished 37 of the 115 homes solely within the al Boustan neighbourhood, with the remaining houses having already received demolition orders from the municipality.
