Gvili was the last Israeli captive in Gaza after more than two years of Israel’s genocide. His body was recovered on Monday. To retrieve his remains, the Israeli military mobilised a fleet of tanks and drones, as well as what local residents described as “explosive robots”. According to local reports, the operation resulted in the destruction of the surrounding neighbourhood, the excavation of approximately 200 Palestinian bodies from the cemetery, and the killing of at least four civilians during the search.
