Israel closed all entry to Al-Aqsa Mosque when it launched its joint war with the US against Iran on 29 February, claiming “security” concerns. The ban came during the holy Muslim month of Ramadan during which tens of thousands of Muslims usually hold Eid al-Fitr prayers inside the religious complex. Despite the so-called “security” concerns that prompted the closure of Al-Aqsa complex, Israelis were seen strolling around an open shopping centre only a few kilometres away, without any security measures or restrictions.
