The names of the killed journalists were displayed on Domplein Square and their names were read aloud. The event was organised on the occasion of the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists. Since it launched its genocidal war on Gaza, Israel has regularly accused Palestinian journalists of being members of Hamas, in what rights groups have described as efforts to discredit their reporting of Israeli abuses.
