Palestinian Knesset member calls death penalty bill a ‘celebration of death’ https://tankie.tube/videos/watch/4fd66188-0d83-4ad3-b14d-126cf09f67a6 In an interview with Middle East Eye's @carolinapedrazzi, Aida Touma-Suleiman, a Palestinian member of the Knesset, spoke about the recent passing of the death penalty bill in Israel, which will only be applied to Palestinians. Capital punishment being applied exclusively on one category of citizens has led Touma-Suleiman and others to call this an apartheid law. “A celebration of death,” she said, a comment corroborated by footage of Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir celebrating the legislation with wine in the plenary. In the interview, Touma-Suleiman specified that regardless of the law, 80 percent of Palestinians who carry out, or are suspected to carry out, military actions against Israelis are already executed on the spot. “They don’t need such a law in order to kill,” she said, and emphasised how this law will simply cause more resistance.
