The attack came hours after five Israeli soldiers were wounded after they attacked Palestinian fighters who allegedly emerged from tunnels in Israel-controlled Rafah on Wednesday. Israel said it carried out multiple air strikes and struck a Hamas commander in the southern Gaza Strip in retaliation for four of their soldiers being wounded. Since the ceasefire took effect, Israel has killed at least 360 Palestinians and wounded over 920 people across Gaza.
