Raed Bazour, one of the farmers, said that they had liaised with the army beforehand, only to be told upon arrival that they had to leave. Footage shows Israeli soldiers pointing weapons at the farmers and physically pushing them, as well as shouting at them to get back. Violence against Palestinians in the West Bank has been increasing since Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza in October 2023. Settler attacks on Palestinian farmland are often carried out under the protection of Israeli forces, who have been placing increasing restrictions on farmers’ ability to cultivate their lands.
