On Shabbat Chayei Sara, the Muslim side of the Cave of the Fathers is opened to Jewish worshippers who come to celebrate the Sabbath there. However, during his visit, Succot called for Israeli control over the site. The decision to divide the holy site in half came after Jewish doctor Baruch Goldstein murdered 29 Muslim worshippers.
