Another survivor, Fatuma Abdallah Hassan, fled with three orphaned children after their parents and brother were killed by a drone strike while fetching food. “They went to bring breakfast,” she said. “On the way back, the drone hit them.” After months of siege and drone attacks, entire neighbourhoods were left in ruins and bodies lined the roads. Medecins Sans Frontieres workers in Tawila report nearly every child arriving is severely malnourished, many with infected bullet or shrapnel wounds.
