Hind Rajab’s mother, Wissam Hamada, opened the Doha Film Festival with a powerful appeal to the world. She spoke before the screening of The Voice of Hind Rajab, a docudrama built around the real audio of her daughter’s final call to rescue workers as she was trapped under Israeli fire. The film uses Hind’s actual voice, preserving her terrified pleas and the Red Crescent team’s desperate attempts to reach her. Hamada said Hind’s voice still wakes her every morning and urged the world to act to save the children of Gaza, who continue to suffer under Israel’s genocidal assault. She said she could not bring herself to watch the film, but insisted that her mission is to carry the voices of Gaza’s children to the world as they fight to survive. Israeli forces fired 355 bullets into the car while six-year-old Hind was still alive inside, trapped among the bodies of her murdered family and begging for help. She managed to call Red Crescent paramedics, who then drove toward her location after hearing her terrified pleas. Israeli forces shot up their ambulance as well, killing both paramedics.
