She described the move as part of a “deliberate, systematic targeting” of Gaza’s healthcare system, already devastated after months of bombardment and restrictions on aid. Hospitals in Gaza, she warned, were operating at “bare minimum” capacity, with medical staff themselves facing hunger and a critical lack of supplies. Syed said doctors have become some of the few remaining witnesses to events inside Gaza as Israel continues to block foreign journalists and target local reporters. By denying medical workers entry, she said, Israel was not only preventing life-saving care but also silencing those documenting the conditions on the ground. Syed also highlighted the dangers of prolonged starvation, including the risk of death when severely malnourished children are suddenly re-fed.
