Emily Thornberry, Chair of the UK Foreign Affairs Committee, says it is an “insult to Britain” that two Labour MPs were denied entry to Israel. Thornberry cast doubt on the initial judgements of the Israelis on a BBC talk show this morning. Bringing to light the recent killings of 15 humanitarian and rescue workers in Gaza by Israeli forces. “All we have to think about at the moment is the way in which those people arriving at the scene in ambulances were shot and the first description and explanation that the Israelis gave, and now they’re going back on it,” Thornberry explained. The UK’s foreign Secretary, David Lammy, wrote on X this morning, “It is unacceptable, counterproductive, and deeply concerning that two British MPs on a parliamentary delegation to Israel have been detained and refused entry by the Israeli authorities.” Emily Thornberry added, “I think that they (Israel) will rue the day that they did this to British parliamentarians.
