Her opinion was quickly criticised by one of the hosts and former Labour politician Ed Balls, who said, "I think you have to be careful calling the recognition of Palestine 'gesture politics'." Keegan's statement was in reference to the Australian Prime Minister's address to crowds in Sydney, as they gathered to mourn 15 people killed by gunmen on Bondi Beach last week. Several G7 countries made the move to recognise Palestinian statehood earlier this year, including France, the UK and Canada.
