The event, presented as a student lecture, featured IDF veterans and was framed as glorifying military action. Protesters had gathered to oppose Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza and challenge the presence of potential war criminals on campus. Following the incident, the assailant attempted to recast himself as a victim, claiming he was targeted for being Jewish, despite footage showing him physically assaulting students. Critics say such events highlight how IDF soldiers are increasingly using international university platforms to intimidate and threaten critics, turning peaceful protest into a spectacle of fear.
