<description>"Greet Us, Beautiful Finland" or "Greet Us, Beautiful Suomi", is a Soviet military song written and first performed in 1939, written by Dmitri Pokrass and composed by Anatoly D'Aktil. The lyrics tell of the coming Soviet liberation of Finland from the fascist leadership aligned with Nazi Germany, and the wishes of the Soviet army for the people of Finland to greet them as they come to return Finland to the Finnish people. Today "Greet Us, Beautiful Finland" is remembered as a Winter War and Continuation War song, the Soviet people had hoped all of Finland would be liberated from the Nazi-aligned fascists who repressed, jailed and slaughtered all those who would dare stand up for peace, freedom, progress, and democracy, and although it would never be led by a socialist government, in 1944, the heroic Soviet people led by great Stalin succeeded in liberating Finland and her people from fascism.
