Gilbert accused Israel of committing crimes against humanity in Gaza and called for urgent international intervention. Footage circulating online captured the moment first responders retrieved the bodies of the children; some burned beyond recognition. Al-Najjar, who works at the Nasser Medical Complex, was on duty when Israeli forces targeted her children. Her husband, Hamdi al-Najjar, who is also a doctor at the Nasser Medical Complex, was critically injured in the attack along with their 11-year-old and only surviving son, Adam.
