A week after the STC was forced to leave Yemen, as its leader Aidrous al Zubaidi fled to Abu Dhabi, Saudi state and popular media are criticising UAE President Mohammed Bin Zayed's foreign policy, highlighting the most serious rift between the two Gulf countries in decades. Alekhbariya, Saudi's main TV outlet, has been broadcasting reports from Yemeni governorates that were under Emirati control exposing secret underground prisons, drug and arms trafficking, and corruption. Saudi Arabia has been actively involved in addressing Yemeni grievances, hosting "Southern Talks" to discuss secessionist concerns. Furthermore, sources close to the Yemeni Presidential Leadership told Middle East Eye that the Kingdom is planning to extend peace talks to Houthi-controlled northern areas next month.
