Speaking at the event on Saturday, she also received a “Golan honorary citizenship award” and referenced a speech made by US President Donald Trump in which he said that the Adelsons lobbied him to do more for Israel, which he said was a key factor in his decision to recognise Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights. The Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights is widely viewed as a violation of international law, with the US being the only country to officially recognise the territory as Israeli.
