This March 8th, reclaim the revolutionary spirit of IWD. Remember the unpaid labour that capital depends on. Remember Clara Zetkin asking what about the work at home. Remember Engels naming private property as the source of women's oppression. Remember Bibi Titi Mohamed organising fish mongers and beer brewers in Dar es Salaam into a liberation movement. Building the women's wing of TANU from dance groups and market networks. Remember the Ruvuma Development Association making childcare count as part of the village workday. Proof that domestic labour could be socialised not privatised. Remember AMNLAE demanding land rights as mothers not just workers in Nicaragua's central highlands. Remember Ni Una Menos declaring vivas libres y desendeudadas nos queremos. We want to be alive, free and unindebted. Our history isn't about securing a seat at the corrupt table. It's about dismantling the table. Recognising that cooking, cleaning and care aren't private burdens but collective labour that creates all other labour. Committing to our sisters from all countries fed into the imperialist machine of extraction. This IWD, remember the revolutionaries who knew that freedom isn't given.
