He made the remarks in an interview on Middle East Eye Live with Mathilda Mallinson. Palani claimed that Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharra is not asking what Kurds want, but is instead “deciding what is best for them”. His comments come after the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) agreed to an immediate ceasefire across all fronts on Sunday, following days of clashes in which the army reclaimed large swathes of the country’s northeast.
